John Danaher is a New Zealand-born martial arts instructor and philosopher widely considered the most influential grappling coach in modern history. Holding a master's degree in philosophy from Columbia University, Danaher brings an academic approach to jiu-jitsu instruction that has revolutionized the sport.
Danaher began training under Renzo Gracie in the 1990s and eventually became the head instructor at Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. His students include Gordon Ryan, Gary Tonon, Craig Jones, and Nicky Ryan—collectively known as the 'Danaher Death Squad.'
